The story behind this painting: I painted this watercolor of an abandoned greenhouse with a mirrorball hanging from the ceiling to illustrate the anxiety and isolation that comes with feeling exposed in the world while still trying everything to be likable to the people critiquing you as you're falling apart. This is my first real sad girl painting that I have created, and as I sat with hard memories to capture these feelings well, I painted the glass house abandoned and overgrown because I wanted the past frozen behind glass to be honored here too. Even in healing, we still sometimes feel old pain because some part of us will always be there, and that's often a very lonely and haunting heartache. This painting is really meaningful to me, and if you resonate with this, I hope it helps you feel a little more understood and less alone too.
